BROOKLYN,
NEW YORK, RESIDENTS SEAN P. KELLY AND GIANMARC MANZIONE TAKE HONORS
IN ESSAY CONTEST
RIVERDALE,
N.Y. -- Manhattan College students, Sean P. Kelly and
Gianmarc Manzione, residents of Brooklyn, New York, were winners
in the 2001 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Scholarship Contest.
Both
students submitted a research paper on Irish America and the 1916
Easter Week Rebellion. Mr. Kelly, a junior in Manhattan College’s
computer science department, took first prize and received $2,500.
Mr. Manzione, a senior majoring in English and philosophy, placed
third and received $800. In addition, $1,000 worth of Irish
books will be donated the College’s Cardinal Hayes Library.
Located
in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, Manhattan College, founded
in 1853, is an independent, Catholic, coeducational college in the
Lasallian tradition that offers over 40 major fields of study in
the programs of arts, business, education, engineering and science.
